Having initially sent our your ‘save the date’ cards to guests, you next step is to formally invite them. This is done through the posting of your wedding invitations, which you will likely have put much thought into choosing. Traditionally, these are sent out three months prior to the date of the wedding; however, brides have recently started to send them anything up-to five months before the wedding date. The enclosures you include with your wedding invitation are as important as the invitation itself. Below is some helpful information on which enclosures you may wish to include.
Giving Directions
An ever-present enclosure with wedding invitations is direction cards, which details how the guests can find the wedding location, as well as giving them an idea as to where they can park their car. In some cases it could be that you will need to create more than one direction card due to hosting the wedding at two separate locations. You may even decide to tailor direction cards to each individual guest. For example, those traveling long distances will need more details than those who only have a short distance to travel.
RSVP Cards
The response card is probably the most important item to enclose with your wedding invitations. As and when the response cards have all been returned the couple than have a clear idea of how many guests will be attending. This means they can go on to start making firm arrangements such as seating and catering plans. People love weddings and those invited will do all they can to attend your big day; however there are usually some that can’t make it.
The Menu
It is becoming increasingly popular for the couple to enclose a menu for the reception and request for the invitee to let them know what they want to eat. Again, this allows for the caterers to prepare the exact quantities of food they require whilst making sure everyone enjoys their meal.
